What is Sound Healing/Sound Bath?

What is sound healing and a Sound Bath?

Sound healing is a low risk therapy where participants may experience physical, emotional and spiritual benefits during and for days after a Sound Bath.

The term "Sound Bath" comes from bathing in the healing and relaxing energy and vibrations of a range of specially chosen instruments such as gongs, drums, singing bowls, chimes etc....

On a physical level the vibrations from the instruments can be felt throughout the body from head to feet or vice versa. They can also target specific areas of the body, depending on what the participant requires at that precise moment in time.

The healing frequency produced by the instruments helps to send participants into a deeply relaxing and meditative state. This is known as the theta brainwave state and is associated with the feeling of being on the cusp of sleep. Participants often describe this stage as feeling very relaxed and often begin to experience dreamy visions.

During a Sound Bath participants may fluctuate between several brainwave states helping them not only to relax but also to enable a “repair” state which can help to regulate a person’s nervous system alleviating symptoms associated with anxiety and depression.

During a sound bath I work directly with the energy of the participants. Shifting it around their body, their space and releasing any worries or tension which they maybe experiencing. Participants often describe the aftermath of a Sound Bath as feeling "lighter" physically and emotionally.

Furthermore, a Sound Bath is essentially a cellular massage. Our bodies are made of around 60% water. When the instruments are played it causes the water in the body to vibrate so much that it disperses cells and helps to release toxins.

On a spiritual level the intention behind the session is just as important as the instruments being played. For example during group sound baths I usually suggest participants to set the intention of being open to the healing energy of the sound. Whilst I set the personal intention of intuitively playing the instruments to enable my participants to deeply relax.

I have found sound healing therapy a huge benefit to my own mind, body and soul and for this reason would highly recommend this to anyone who feels it may be of some benefit to them.

I offer Sound Baths in or around the North East of England within some of the most beautiful venues which have been specifically chosen for their acoustics and ambiance.  I also offer 1:1 or small group Sound Baths within my very own "Holistic Haven" which is in Penshaw, Tyne and Wear.
